Product Description
Add an unusual collector’s specimen to your cactus collection with Lophophora, a distinctive genus of small, spineless or nearly spineless cacti native to parts of Mexico and the southern United States. The genus includes multiple accepted species, so the exact body colour, rib pattern and flower appearance may vary between individual plants.
Lophophora develops a low, rounded or flattened body divided into broad ribs or tubercles. Its colour commonly ranges from soft green and grey-green to blue-green. Instead of prominent spines, the plant usually has small woolly areoles, giving it a smooth and unusual appearance.
This cactus grows extremely slowly and remains compact for many years. Mature specimens may produce small pale pink, white or cream flowers from the woolly centre during warm weather. Its understated shape and rarity make it especially suitable for collectors and miniature cactus displays.
Place Lophophora in bright, filtered light with gentle morning sun. Protect it from harsh afternoon sunlight, particularly during very hot weather, because excessive exposure may cause scorching or stress.
Use a highly mineral, fast-draining cactus mix and a pot with an open drainage hole. Water carefully during active growth only after the soil has dried completely. Keep the plant almost entirely dry during cold winter dormancy, as excessive moisture around its thick taproot can cause rot.
Because Lophophora species may be legally restricted in certain countries or regions, customers should confirm applicable local rules before purchasing or cultivating them. This listing is intended for lawful ornamental cultivation only and not for consumption.
