Product Description

Add a striking architectural plant to your collection with Pachypodium Geayi, a distinctive succulent species commonly known as the Silver Madagascar Palm.

Despite its palm-like appearance, it is not a true palm or cactus. It belongs to the Apocynaceae family and develops a thick, water-storing trunk covered with sharp spines. Long, narrow grey-green leaves grow in a crown near the upper portion of the stem, creating its characteristic miniature palm appearance.

Young Pachypodium Geayi plants are compact and well suited to decorative pots, sunny windows, balconies and patios. As the plant matures, its trunk becomes thicker and more prominent, giving it an increasingly dramatic appearance.

Place it in a warm location with plenty of bright light and several hours of direct sun. Introduce young plants gradually to intense sunlight to prevent leaf scorch. Insufficient light may cause thin, weak or stretched growth.

Use a loose, fast-draining cactus and succulent soil. Water thoroughly during active growth, then allow the soil to dry before watering again. The plant may naturally shed some or all of its leaves during cooler weather or drought. When it is dormant and leafless, watering should be reduced considerably.

Pachypodium Geayi is native to southern and southwestern Madagascar. Its combination of a silver trunk, long leaves and strong spines makes it an excellent collector’s plant and a bold addition to modern landscapes.

Important: The plant has sharp spines and contains irritating milky sap. Keep it away from children and pets, and wear gloves when handling damaged stems.
